Galloping Gertie.....

In 1940, The Tacoma Narrows Bridge was opened... and 4 months later.. the world saw Galloping Gertie!

Today we have 2 bridges, one takes us to Gig Harbor and surrounding places and the other one... the new one (just opened July 16, 2007) brings us back to Tacoma. But only after you pay your toll of $3.00.

Chris, PugZee and I took a nice walk today. We began our journey at the War Memorial Park on Jackson St. in Tacoma. We then walked across the new bridge and back again. Approx. 2 miles each way. It was a beautiful walk. You can visit my Myspace page to see some pics..

I love the Galloping Gertie video although I would be sick if I had been on the bridge at that time!
